News: Flybe boss has crisis talks with Highland MPs

The boss of Flybe has met MPs concerned about the reliability of its flights between Inverness and London Gatwick.
Liberal Democrat MPs Danny Alexander and John Thurso arranged the meeting after receiving complaints from constituents about delays and cancellations on the route.
Flybe chairman, Jim French, said the no-frills carrier’s flights between Inverness and London Gatwick had suffered a "unique set of technical issues" that affected two of its planes.
Following the meeting in Westminster, Mr Thurso, the MP for Caithness, Sutherland, and Easter Ross, said he was impressed that Mr French had "made no attempt to conceal the extent of the problems".
He added: "Not only does the airline understand the problem, it is taking major steps to put matters right. Already they have located a back-up aircraft at Inverness and other changes to improve service will be made over the summer.

There is one simple solution if you have concerns about the reliability of Flybe’s flights between Inverness and London Gatwick – take Easyjet instead. Easyjet’s fares are often considerably cheaper than Flybe, although they offer less frequency (daily flights compared to Flybe’s three per day). Easyjet also gives you the option of flying to London Luton instead, which is more convenient than Gatwick for getting to destinations in north London and the Home Counties.
