Flybe has announced that the majority of its flights are back to normal after it grounded six of its Bombardier Q400 turboprop aircraft on Wednesday while safety checks were carried out on their landing gear.
Bombardier recommended that the landing gear on all Q400 planes with more than 10,000 landings be inspected, following two emergency incidents involving SAS Scandinavian Airlines aircraft.
An SAS Q400 skidded off a runway in Lithuania on Wednesday morning, just three days after another crash-landed in Denmark. Both incidents are believed to have been caused by landing gear problems.
Six of Flybe's 74 aircraft are Bombardier Q400 and the low-cost airline had warned that there would be delays to some services and cancellations throughout the Wednesday as it inspected them. The no-frills airline is now advising that passengers check in as normal for their flights.
