Ryanair is set to take advantage of Alitalia’s decline by launching 80 new routes from two Milan airports.
Alitalia, the ailing Italian national carrier, has announced plans to axe half of its flights from Milan in the coming months, leaving a void which Ryanair is keen to fill.
Ryanair is likely to base an additional 12 airliners at Malpensa airport and another six at Bergamo.
A Ryanair spokesman said the no-frills giant would launch flights to 50 European and ten Italian destinations from Malpensa alone. Ryanair management were set to hold discussions with executives from Milan airports operator SEA on Friday (September 14).
