Oman Air is launching flights from London to Muscat this winter.
The Omani national airline will operate daily flights from Gatwick to Oman’s capital using Airbus A330-300 and A310-300s aircraft. The new route takes off on November 15.
Oman Air will face competition from Bahrain-based Gulf Air and British airways. Gulf Air currently operate daily flights to Muscat from Heathrow, with British Airways offering a weekly service on Sundays, also from Heathrow.
Oman Air chief executive, Ziad Karim Al Haremi, said: “The introduction of the daily service from London to Muscat will provide travellers with the flexibility not currently available through any other service provider in Oman.”
“Oman Air’s decision to start operations to London comes close on the heels of our recent announcement to expand services beyond our current 21 destinations and clearly signals our expansion-based strategy in the region.”
