Varig is resuming its flights from London to Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo at the end of this month.
The Brazilian national airline scrapped its London flights in June 2006, but a recent surge in demand from both business passengers and tourists has led to a re-think from Varig’s management.
The daily flights take off on October 28, with flights leaving Heathrow at 10.05pm, arriving in Sao Paulo at 8.15am and Rio at 10am. Return flights will leave Rio at 8.30pm, Sao Paulo at 9.30pm, and arriving in London at 3pm the following day.
Varig will compete with British Airways, which also operates daily flights from London to Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo, and Brazilian rival TAM, which operates daily flights to Sao Paulo from London.
