Aer Lingus has signed a code sharing agreement with British Airways on its new flights between Belfast International and London Heathrow Belfast.
Passengers flying with Aer Lingus to Heathrow and then connecting to an onward BA flight will be able to check their bags through to their final destination when the new route takes off on January 14.
Aer Lingus commercial director, Enda Corneille, said the code share agreement also meant passengers would be able to book connecting flights with British Airways through to their final destination.
Aer Lingus will not face any direct competition on flights from Belfast International to Heathrow, although BMI operate eight flights a day (six on Sundays) from Belfast City to Heathrow.
The Irish national airline will also start flights from Belfast to Amsterdam, Barcelona, Budapest, Faro, Geneva, Malaga and Rome Fiumicino.
