News: Price war on premium flights

A business-class price war has broken out on flights from London to New York.
The Sunday Times has reported that Britain’s traditional transatlantic carriers, British Airways and Virgin Atlantic, have cut their prices by almost £1,000 on some routes in an attempt to compete with new specialist premium airlines EOS, Maxjet, and Silverjet.
BA denies the price cuts are due to competition from the business-class only airlines. A BA spokesman said: “We are substantially different to Silverjet. We’re offering leisure passengers the opportunity to travel business class at discount prices for a limited time only; and, unlike Silverjet, we offer 11 flights daily to New York and hundreds of other destinations worldwide.”
