Want to watch your team in the knock-out stages of the Champions League next spring? Working out how to get to games on the Continent can take hours, so Flightmapping.com has done the hard work for you, and looked into the direct flight options for all of the away fixtures involving British teams.

Barcelona v CELTIC (04/03/08)
There is a surprisingly poor choice of flights from Glasgow to Barcelona. Flyglobespan is the only airline operating direct flights from Glasgow International to Barcelona, whilst there are no flights at all from Prestwick to Spain’s second city. The options from Edinburgh are not much better, with Flyglobespan and Clickair the only carriers offering flights to Barcelona.

Lyon v MANCHESTER UNITED (20/02/08)
Despite being one of the biggest cities in France, Lyon is not a major flights hub. BMI Regional is the only airline to offer direct flights from Manchester to Lyon. Budget giant Ryanair operates regular flights to Grenoble from Liverpool. The journey from Grenoble to Lyon takes about two hours by train.

Inter Milan v LIVERPOOL (11/03/08)
There is a reasonable range of flights from the Northwest to Milan, although Ryanair is the only airline offering scheduled services to Milan (Bergamo) from Liverpool. From Manchester there are two options, Flybe to Milan Malpensa airport, and Jet2 to Bergamo.

AC Milan v ARSENAL (04/03/08)
Arsenal fans are spoilt for choice when it comes to finding flights for their mouthwatering Champions League first knockout round away leg at AC Milan’s magnificent San Siro stadium.
BA and Alitalia offer several flights a day to both of Milan’s two main airports, Linate and Malpensa. Easyjet operate flights to Linate from Gatwick and to Milan Bergamo from both Luton and Stansted. Finally, there are two routes to Milan from London City - Air One to Linate and BA City Flyer to Malpensa.

Olympiakos v CHELSEA (19/02/08)
Athens tends to stay off the no-frills airlines’ radar due to the fact that it is comparatively far from the UK. Therefore, finding cheap flights to Athens for Chelsea’s game against Olympiakos might prove to be quite tricky. The only direct options from London airports are with BA and Olympic Airlines from Heathrow and Gatwick, and Easyjet from Luton.
