News: Inverness to Heathrow flights face the axe

BMI is scrapping its flights between Inverness and London Heathrow at the end of March due to poor ticket sales.
The airline also blamed steep airport charge increases at Heathrow, which it said put pressure on short-haul flights.
BMI will axe the daily service between Inverness and Heathrow on March 29, four years after it was launched.
Flights will still be available from Inverness to London Gatwick with Flybe and Easyjet, and London Luton with Easyjet.
BMI managing director, Paul Spencer, said: "We are very disappointed that there has been insufficient demand to operate a viable profitable operation on this route but load factors have not been sufficiently high enough to sustain the service.”
