News: Foreign Office changes travel advice for Kenya

The Foreign Office has further changed its travel advice for Kenya to now recommend against all travel to the capital, Nairobi.
Today's change follows the lifting of a FCO blanket recommendation against travel to Kenya last week. That decision prompted several holiday firms to reinstate travel to Kenya.
But the extrme violence of the past few days has forced the FCO to reconsider its advice and today add Nairobi to its list of no-go areas within the country.
Britain's four largest holiday firms, including Thomas Cook, MyTravel, First Choice and Thomson have already scrapped all Kenya holidays for the rest of the winter season due to the uncertainty.
The companies repatriated all remaining customers holidaying in Kenya on January 20, together with flight crew and resort staff and will not offer any more holidays to the destination until the end of April.
But not all tour operators have taken the same decision - some holidaymakers with bookings to Kenya will have to pay a cancellation charge if they do not wish to go ahead with their holiday.
Kuoni is among the tour operators that has given the green light to holidays in Kenya, and reinstated normal booking conditions, which means holidaymakers whose terms and conditions cite cancellation charges would be penalised if they wish to avoid Kenya.
It is not immediately clear whether the latest FCO decision to recommend against travel to Nairobi will affect passengers flying into the country.
Scheduled flights continue to operate to Nairobi, with British Airways operating daily services from Heathrow. Both Virgin Atlantic and Kenya Airways have made revisions to their timetables, so travellers are advised to check with their airline before leaving for the airport.
