American Airlines will switch all its London Gatwick flights from to Heathrow later this year following the introduction of the EU-US Open Skies agreement.
The US giant had intended to retain one of its two daily flights between London and Dallas Fort Worth at Gatwick, after the Open Skies deal comes into force on March 30.
However, from April 13, both American Airlines' daily flights to Dallas will operate from Heathrow instead.
A spokesman for the airline said keeping its Gatwick operation open for a single daily flight was not a viable option.
American Airlines had already announced plans to move its other route currently departing from Gatwick, flying to Raleigh Durham, to Heathrow Terminal 4 at the start of April.
