Budget airline Bmibaby is launching flights from Cardiff to Barcelona this summer.
The new route takes off on May 24 with a two times a week service operating on Tuesday and Saturday. From June 28 flights will increase to three times a week, with an additional service on Wednesday. Fares start from £24.99 one way, including taxes and charges.
Bmibaby’s managing director, Crawford Rix, said: “I am delighted to further expand our route network from Cardiff with a brand new service to Barcelona. We have seen unprecedented demand for our low fare flights to the vibrant Spanish city from both Birmingham and Manchester and expect the route to be as popular from Cardiff.
"Our flights to Barcelona will provide a direct link to a fantastic destination for both leisure and business travellers.”
He added: “The new route strengthens our position as the number one airline at Cardiff Airport, flying more passengers than any other low cost airline. We are also proud to be the most punctual low cost carrier from the region.
Bmibaby will fly to 13 European destinations from Cardiff this summer: Alicante, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Belfast International, Edinburgh, Faro, Gdansk, Glasgow International, Jersey, Malaga, Murcia, Palma (Majorca) and Warsaw.
