News: Gatwick hand luggage restrictions lifted
Flights > News > # 1731 (31/03/2008)
From today (March 31) passengers taking flights from London Gatwick will be able to take more than one piece of hand luggage through security.
Airport operator BAA said Gatwick will now join its other airports, where restrictions were lifted in January, because new x-ray and archway technology has been installed in central search areas.
However, some airlines operating at Gatwick have chosen to continue with a restriction of only one item of hand baggage, so passengers are being advised to check with individual airlines before travelling to the airport.
Airport signs are being revised to reflect the changes, but Gatwick will continue to apply the Department for Transport’s cabin baggage restrictions relating to the size of each item (maximum 56cm tall, 45cm wide and 25cm deep).
Passengers with any questions about the regulations should speak to their airline or a member of airport staff.
