News: Flybe anger over Norwich Airport fee increase

No-frills airline Flybe has slammed controversial plans to make passengers pay £5 to travel from Norwich Airport.
Passengers flying from Norwich face an increase of £2 on the ‘airport development fee’ from September.
Norwich Airport has so far refused to explain the reasons behind the charge hike.
A Flybe spokesman said the airline had not been consulted about the move, and urged the airport to rethink the plans.
He said: “Flybe is concerned that this action will give passengers yet a further reason to choose to fly from Stansted rather than from Norwich. Flybe therefore calls upon (airport owner) Omniport to urgently review and overturn this ill-advised decision.”
The original £3 levy was introduced in April last year to help fund an £18m expansion plan, but it sparked anger from Flybe, which blamed the tax for its decision to cut a host of flights from Norwich.
