Easyjet is a step closer to its aim of being one of the world’s most environmentally friendly airlines thanks to new super-efficient aircraft engines.
The no-frills carrier has revealed that all of its new Airbus 319 aircraft will use CFM Tech Insertion engines capable of reducing mono-nitrogen emissions by 25%. They also release less carbon dioxide emissions and deliver improved fuel consumption.
Easyjet chief executive Andy Harrison said: “There is no doubt that climate change is a real and pressing danger which should be a concern for us all.
“There is also no doubt that the biggest benefits are to be gained from environmentally-sensitive companies, such as CFM and Easyjet, developing and operating the big leaps forward in technology that will enable our industry to achieve the green growth that is expected of us."
