Flybe plans to restore routes from Manchester Airport which it axed following its 2007 takeover of British Airways subsidiary BA Connect.
Flybe boss Mike Rutter said the regional carrier was looking to reintroduce flights to Madrid and Lyon, and to expand its network with new flights to Amsterdam, Hamburg and Stuttgart. It currently offers flights to seven European cities and nine British airports from Manchester.
Mr Rutter said: “Manchester remains a key hub for us and we are aiming to increase passenger numbers from a million last year to around 1.5 million over the next 12 months.”
