News: Loganair reduces Dundee flights

Regional airline Loganair is reducing the number of flights it operates between Birmingham and Dundee due to poor sales on the route.
The service, which was only launched in May, will be cut back from October 27.
There are currently three flights on weekdays between Dundee and Birmingham, with a single return flight on a Sunday. The schedule changes will result in there only being two flights on Monday, Tuesday and Friday. An afternoon flight will be removed from Monday and Tuesday’s schedule, with the Friday morning rotation also cancelled.
Loganair chairman, Scott Grier, said forward bookings for the route had been “disappointing” and the step was necessary to ensure the long-term sustainability of the service.
He said: “These actions, we believe, are necessary and will allow us to reduce our fuel and other direct operating costs while still offering more than enough capacity to meet passenger demand.”
The airline’s flights between Dundee and Belfast will be unaffected by the move.
