News: Ryanair shuts Valencia base

Ryanair is set to shut its base in Valencia next week, resulting in the scrapping of flights to Spain’s third largest city from East Midlands and Liverpool.
The no-frills airline will continue to operate a limited service from London Stansted to Valencia.
Ryanair said the move was because the local authority had failed to come up with satisfactory plans to promote the airport. As a result, the carrier added, Valencia had become untenable as a destination. Ryanair opened its Valencia base in August 2007.
Passengers who were due to travel on affected flights will receive a full refund from Ryanair.
