News: Passenger flights end at Coventry

Passenger flights ended at Coventry yesterday (November 9) as Thomsonfly's last scheduled service arrived in the city from Malaga in Spain.
The airline’s decision to axe its Coventry flights came just days after the airport lost its High Court appeal to build a new passenger terminal in October, although Thomsonfly said an increased focus on charter operations was the reason behind the move.
The airport has said it regretted but understood the airline's decision. It has pledged to appeal against the High Court judgement which ruled against the new terminal in October.
Executive chairman Brian Cox said "the length of time and inordinate cost involved in seeking improved terminal facilities" had not helped the situation.
The airport's business aviation and cargo operations will continue.
