Ryanair has scrapped all its flights to Fuerteventura, resulting in more than 5,000 passengers booked on flights from January 31 having their winter holidays in the Canary Islands cancelled.
Their fares will be refunded, but the no-frills airline is refusing to compensate holidaymakers for any car hire or hotel bookings, including those made on Ryanair’s website.
Only last week, Ryanair slammed rival carrier Bmibaby for leaving passengers with “holiday plans ruined” by cancelling summer routes to Bordeaux, Milan, Prague and Rome.
Ryanair flew to Fuerteventura from a number of UK and Irish airports, including Stansted, Birmingham, East Midlands, Dublin and Shannon. The cancellations affect 23 flights a week.
Ryanair has axed over 120 routes between January 2005 and July 2008.
