News: Easyjet to launch Malta flights from Newcastle

Easyjet will operate twice weekly flights to Malta from Newcastle as part of its summer 2009 schedule.
The new flights take off on April 2 and will run every Monday and Friday throughout the summer holiday season.
Newcastle airport chief executive, Dave Laws, said: "Easyjet's decision to add Malta to its list of low-cost destinations from Newcastle is great news to start the new year.
"Choice, price and convenience are extremely important for our customers and this new scheduled service will offer holidaymakers the option of putting together their own package to this beautiful island, taking advantage of the excellent low fares Easyjet has put on sale.”
There are currently no other scheduled flights to Malta from Newcastle, although holiday company Thomas Cook offers regular charter services to the Mediterranean hotspot during the summer months.
