Ryanair is axing its flights between Inverness and East Midlands next month.
The no-frills airline is scrapping the route on July 16 despite previous assurances that the route would be spared the chop.
Customers who have already booked tickets beyond July 16 are being offered refunds.
A Ryanair spokesman said: “The Inverness to East Midlands route was identified as one of our worst-performing routes, and it was unfortunately removed from Ryanair's scheduling.”
The only remaining route between Inverness and the Midlands is Flybe’s Birmingham service.
Meanwhile, two new routes from Inverness take off on June 20. Lufthansa will be launching flights to Dusseldorf in Germany, and Flybe will be starting flights to Jersey.
