Virgin Atlantic is celebrating its 25th anniversary today.
The long-haul specialist operated its first flight, from London to New York, on 22 June 1984.
Speaking at Heathrow airport, Virgin founder Sir Richard Branson thanked the millions of passengers who have used the airline over the past quarter of a century.
Sir Richard said: “I am so proud of what we have achieved. It is a tribute to the staff of Virgin Atlantic that we are in the leading position we are in today.”
Over 65 million passengers have chosen to travel with Virgin since its launch in 1984. The airline now flies to 30 destinations around the world, from its main bases at Heathrow and Gatwick.
