Bmibaby is to launch eight new routes at East Midlands, just days after rival easyJet revealed it was pulling out of the airport.
The new routes are to Alghero (Sardinia), Barcelona International, Bastia (Corsica), Dubrovnik, Cork, Malta, Newquay and Venice. They start between December 18 and May 30, 2010.
Last week easyJet, which currently operates ten routes, said it would scrap all of its East Midlands flights after Christmas.
Bmibaby's managing director, Crawford Rix, said: "It not only further demonstrates our commitment to the airport, but also to the people of the region, as we continue to offer low fares to a range of exciting new European destinations.
"As well as announcing eight new routes, we have also increased our capacity on key winter and summer routes to meet the extra consumer demand."
