Wrangles over possible staff redundancies have resulted in easyJet being forced to carry on selling tickets on flights from East Midlands that are due to be axed.
The no-frills airline announced last week that it was closing its East Midlands base in the New Year, but the pull out is subject to a 90-day consultation period with staff who face redundancy. In order not to prejudice the consultation, easyJet must continue selling tickets.
Though it is guaranteeing all flights up to Christmas and the New Year, people who have booked beyond the festive season do not know if they will be able to fly, and easyJet says the law prevents it from paying refunds until the end of the consultation period.
