VisitBritain has joined forces with easyJet and British Airways to launch a new campaign to help attract tourism to the UK’s major cities.
Building on the national tourism agency’s 2009 campaign ‘See More Britain for Less’, the Cities Campaign will seek to emphasise travel in ten of the UK’s cities, including Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, London, Birmingham, Bristol, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle-Gateshead and Oxford.
Laurence Bresh, marketing director of VisitBritain, said the campaign will help overseas visitors make the most of their trip, while highlighting the culture and experiences the selected cities have to offer.
“The current and extremely favourable exchange rate in Britain means that consumers will be able to get even better value in the New Year sales, not only in London but in other shopping hot spots such as Edinburgh, Birmingham and Manchester,” he said.
“Whichever city the visitor is lucky enough to experience, they all combine an incredibly rich combination of centuries of history and heritage, rural landscapes with dynamic and vibrant atmospheres.”
The campaign was launched across 13 countries yesterday (January 26), with VisitBritain microsites providing destination information and quirky offers for travellers.
