A Swiss company is considering taking over Coventry Airport.
The city council said business support firm ADP had requested 30 days to look through the airport's books.
Passenger flights stopped in 2008, but the airport had continued handling freight until it closed at the start of December.
ADP’s chief executive said the firm would focus on expanding the airport’s cargo business before looking into the possibility of resuming passenger flights.
Mr Frankl said: "It has got a very good infrastructure here already, which is quite unusual for a small regional airport.
"Once the economy is better we would be looking at some specialist passenger traffic routes."
