News: Passengers cut back on Ryanair extras

Ryanair passengers are cutting back on ancillary items, such as car hire, insurance and on-board drinks.
The no-frills airline said it was seeing "changes in consumer behaviour".
Ancillary income during the third-quarter of 2009, which had previously outstripped the growth in passenger volumes, rose by only six per cent to €139 million (£122 million) – well below the 14 per cent increase in passenger numbers.
Michael Cawley, joint deputy chief executive of Ryanair, said: "We have had a slight adjustment in the rate of people spending on ancillary items".
Mr Cawley said Ryanair expected ancillary income to peak at 20 per cent of total sales and dismissed suggestions that passengers were becoming resistant to the airline's attempts to find add-on revenues.
