One of The Mirror’s leading news columnists has called for holidaymakers to boycott Ryanair this summer due to the no-frills airline’s plans to charge passengers up to £10 a bag more for flights in July and August.
Fiona McIntosh said it was outrageous to introduce an extra fee at the only time parents with school-age children can take a summer holiday, accusing Ryanair boss Michael O’Leary of “crucifying cash-strapped families.”
She added: “O’Leary treats us like fools. But if we boycott his tinpot airline, who’s the fool then?”
A Ryanair spokesman said the Irish carrier wants to “incentivise” passengers to travel light this summer.
